Fusion-crusted Specimen

Great character in a thickly fusion crusted meteorite. The shape appears to be an iron band of the coarsest octahedrite split in the upper atmosphere. A crevasse is seen on one side coated with smoky metaled metal.  This meteorite has 360-degree appeal. It is 2.5 inches long. We send it out in a white box, clear lid, gold bow and numbered Certificate of Authenticity.

Sikhote-Alin is the largest meteorite fall of our time. The strewnfield associated with this fall is over 6 km long and occured deep in the Tiaga with more than 106 impact holes up to 28 meters in diameter. The area looked like it had been bombed; trees were ripped apart, deep holes gouged and giant scraps of metal were strewn about. The largest specimen recorded was 1,745 kg. We visited the site in 2000 and the initial strewnfield was explanded to >10 km.
