Meteorite "Worry Stone"

This iron meteorite has been carefully wire brushed, revealing its distinctive black oxide patina. The surface features pale Coconino limestone lodged within the indentations, providing evidence of its origin from Canyon Diablo in northern Arizona. Its elongated form, highlighted by a central indentation, gives it a resemblance to a traditional worry stone. This specimen was discovered outside the boundaries of the meteor crater property several years ago, and meteorites from Canyon Diablo are known to be highly prized among collectors.

The meteorite is displayed in a membrane 3D frame and comes accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.

Canyon Diablo meteorites come from the most famous impact crater in the world; Meteor Crater, Arizona. These iron meteorites are classified as IA, coarse octahedrite. Many contain inclusions of graphite. When a graphite inclusion pops out of the host meteorite it is called a graphite nodule. Another interesting fact about Canyon Diablo is the occurrence of carbonados or black diamonds formed by impact on earth or in space. These meteorites are typically characterized by classic meteorite features like sharp ridges, holes and bowls.
