Chondritic Meteorite

The chondritic stone offered is a 3D representive sample of the Gascoyne Junction meteorite fall. One dimension is that of fusion crust: a 30 x 20 millimeter section, smoothed and rippled. The second is hand-polished side, smooth to reveal the dark interior with tiny flakes of metal. The others to show the broken surface of the meteorite and the texture of the interior.

Specimen is offered in membrane frame for viewing and a certificate of authenticity.

Ordinary Chondrite (H5)

50 stones totaling ~10 kg (largest, 1.6 kg) were found by a prospector in a 2 ´ 4 km area of a sheep station. Mineralogy and classification (C. Lewis and J. Clark, Arizona State University): olivine, Fa19.  The stewnfield of stones was found by a prospector searching for gold. These stones have a brown fusion crust most are stained by the deep red dirt of the Australian outback.
