Excellent Chondrite

Exquisite whole stone meteorite from the Australian outback. This is a surface specimen with excellent fusion crusted surfaces. The red dirt hardly touched the surface. Perhaps is landed instead on a rock instead; a crack is seen in the surface. Gascoyne Juntion is a fairly fresh find with a low total known weight (10 kg). Great addition to any collection. Shipped in a small mineral box with cushioning and a cerrtificate of authenticity.

50 stones totaling ~10 kg (largest, 1.6 kg) were found by a prospector in a 2 ´ 4 km area of a sheep station. Mineralogy and classification (C. Lewis and J. Clark, Arizona State University): olivine, Fa19.  The stewnfield of stones was found by a prospector searching for gold. These stones have a brown fusion crust most are stained by the deep red dirt of the Australian outback.
