Udei Station Witnessed Fall

UD6

Silicated - Iron Meteorite

The Udei Station meteorite is a witnessed fall in 1924 Nigeria.  Described by Mason in 1967, Buchwalds Iron Meteorites as an unusual display of metal (>50%), troilite and silicates, such as; Enstatite (Fs6), olivine (Fa 5), oligoclase (An16) and diopside (Fe 5 ) in that order of abundance. Each slice is unique: The part slice here is thin with a good surface area to see the dark silicates (0.5mm)  up to 25 millimeters in clusters. Pretty black and white until you look closely at the silicates. The unpolished surface gives a better view.
