The Semchan Meteorite in Sterling Silver

Gemmy Meteorite, found inĀ  Seymchan, Russia came from the Stars. The meteorite is slices and preserved in a sterling silver frame. Without obstruction, light passes through the translucent peridot crystal naturally occuring in a nickel-iron meteorite. The meteorite widmanstatten pattern is visible. The rectanular frame is 1.75 (44mm) by 1.2 (27mm) inches the top ring allows for up to a 3 mm chain.

Originally two specimens were found in a brook-bed in very remote location of the Magadan district. It was rediscovered in ~2004 where a massive recovery project yielded about 30 tons. It is easily the largest pallasite discovery to date. The olivine crystals are randomly dispersed in NiFe in clusters and layers. It is very stable iron.
