Rhodium-plated Meteorite Beads

The bracelet of beads made from the  Swedish meteorite, Muonionalusta sparkles with the protective rhodium plating. The finish will help to preserve the beads from staining, rusting and tarnish. The size and shape of the beads are uniformly crafted. It is composed  of thirty-two 5 millimeter (3/8 inch) beads on an elastic band. The total weight is 24 grams.

The beads are mostly composed of iron with 8.4% nickel. The Widmanstättan pattern is the crystalline structure of iron you see on the surface formed in the weightless environment of space over billions of years.  It is called a fine octahedrite.

The process: the beads were cut, shaped and polished from the meteorite, then etched to reveal the natural crystalline structure, then coated with a very thin layer of rhodium.

Mankind has been fascinated by meteorites  for  centuries.  The ancient Egyptians recognized the meteorite metal from the sky as precious. Meteorite beads were uncovered at a Giza burial site in 1911, which dates back to around 3200 BC.  Also, meteorite implements were discovered in the tomb of the Pharoah Tutankhamun. Many civilizations regard them as symbols of wisdom, strength, and healing.

The Muonionalusta Meteorite bracelet is provided in a black membrane 3D frame with pedestal and certificate of authenticity.
