Imilac was known by the Incas prior to documentation in 1822. Some pieces had been excavated and transported hundreds of kilometers before that time. In 1877, four men transported a 191 kg Imilac mass 200 kilometers to Antifagasta with only a hand cart; an amazing journey accomplished in only 100 days. The Southwest Meteorite group visited this site in 1996. We discovered many specimens and reported the experince at LPSC in 1997 Multiple Impacts and an Unrelated H5 Chondrite at Imilac Pallasite Strewnfield, Chile.
